Jane Davies is one of the most popular UK watercolour artists with over 40,000 students!

David Shepherd Finalist 2023, 2024 (Highly commended)

Jane Davies is an international selling artist specialising in pet portraits and wildlife. She lives and paints in the beautiful South Downs National Park, England with her husband and two cocker spaniels. Jane’s father introduced her to the wonders of watercolour at a young age and that experience always stuck with her… that amazing ability to pull down her feelings and senses onto paper and express them in such a liberating and magical way.

Jane Is an extraordinarily popular teacher who has been painting for over 15 years and delivering classes for 8 years. With private collectors in the UK and overseas, over 40,000 online students and nearly 2000 glowing reviews, Olive and Plum are very proud to be collaborating with her! Working alongside the prestigious brand Daniel Smith Paints, Jane’s blog posts and articles for popular art magazines such as Artist and Illustrators have made her a respected and much loved artist amongst her peers and students alike.

Anyone who has spent time learning with Jane will tell you how relaxing, fun and inspirational her teaching style is.

Jane is driven by the joy that she can bring in unlocking people’s latent skills. When we asked Jane what motivated her to teach, this is what she said...

“The absolute buzz of helping people unlock their artistic talent. I believe everyone has a unique style. To see their reaction of joy and wonder with a little guidance from me is an amazing thing and it just makes me so happy and humble that I can help them!”

What Jane's students say...

From Jane's  workshop

“Jane !  I had such a fabulous time. Woke up this morning wishing I could do it all over again. You certainly can teach! Obviously a brilliant artist but the teaching is superb. So helpful when it all starts to get out of hand too. The venue and food are out of this world. I feel quite privileged to have been there. Can’t wait to do more.

"Seriously you are not only a very talented lady but equally a lovely person. So nice to have met you xx”

“Thank you so much Jane for a wonderful day. ,I was so nervous of painting in front of people but needn't have worried as you made us all feel so relaxed and comfortable  ,you are so warm , friendly and very patient  and I have taken away so many things to help me with my painting journey".

“These classes are brilliant and I am so inspired to try these techniques in my own work. This method of painting is especially encouraging for those who are daunted by complicated drawings and lots of fine detail as it is much more about value and pigment behaviour and of course the beautiful unpredictability of watercolour - thanks again Jane “

“ I never imagined I could accomplish it until this class was offered! Jane, thank you for being so attuned to our wishes☺️ Your expertise, techniques, and teaching methods are truly amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.”

“Jane is such a talent! She is also an excellent teacher and I've learned so much taking some of her classes. As I've taken more classes I feel more confident and I always end up with a painting to be proud of and having improved. Jane is inspirational and I appreciate the opportunity to learn from her.”
