About the Workshop
Sharon Gibson: Coast 3- Beach
Coast is a series of four workshops exploring aspects of our coastline and ways to represent these in water colour and mixed media. These are stand-alone workshops but, when booked together as a full series, give a more in-depth experience for the artist.
Using the stimulus of a photograph of the beach at Saundersfoot we will create abstracted landscapes concentrating on wide brush strokes of colour and patterns in the horizontal layers. We will then choose between placing simplified suggestions of figures on the beach to show scale or using granulating colours to create a rocky foreground. In another piece I will show you how to use torn up parts of discarded watercolours to create a moon lit seascape.
